¿Otros mundos posibles?[Deutsche Version]

El texto que sigue es mi ponencia para la conferencia “¿Otros mundos posibles?” que tuvo lugar en Medellín (Colombia) en mayo del corriente. Todas las ponencias de la conferencia se van a publicar en una antología
de la Fundación Rosa Luxemburgo, en alemán y español.

La “producción entre pares basada en bienes comunes” (commons-based peer production)

Imaginémonos un mundo en donde la producción y la reproducción se basan en las necesidades de todos y son organizadas por personas libres que se reparten voluntariamente las actividades necesarias. Esta sociedad llamo commonism (deducido de commons, en español bienes comunes), considerando que los bienes comunes, jugarán un rol importante en ella.

Ahora se podrá objetar que tal sociedad será imposible porque todavía no ha existido o porque contradice a la naturaleza del ser humano. Pero del que una sociedad de este carácter todavía no haya existido, no se puede deducir que sea imposible. De igual manera, los argumentos sobre la “naturaleza del ser humano” desconocen que no solo los seres humanos hacen la sociedad sino que, a la inversa, los seres humanos también son influenciados y marcados por la sociedad. Es decir, los cambios de las estructuras también cambian el comportamiento de las personas.

¿Otros mundos posibles?[Versión en español]

Dieser Text ist mein Beitrag für die Konferenz „Andere mögliche Welten?“ (¿Otros mundos posibles?), die im Mai in Medellín (Kolumbien) stattfand. Alle Beiträge der Konferenz werden in einem Sammelband der Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung erscheinen, der Ende des Jahres in deutscher sowie in spanischer Sprache veröffentlicht werden soll.

Die Bewegung zum Commonismus

Stellen wir uns eine Welt vor, in der Produktion und Reproduktion bedürfnisorientiert zum Wohle aller stattfinden, organisiert von Menschen, die sich niemandem unterordnen müssen und sich freiwillig in die erforderlichen Tätigkeiten teilen. Ich nenne eine solche Gesellschaft Commonismus, weil ich glaube, dass darin die Commons, die Gemeingüter, eine wichtige Rolle spielen werden.

Man mag einwenden, dass eine solche Gesellschaft unmöglich sei, weil es sie noch nicht gab oder weil sie der Natur des Menschen widerspreche. Doch daraus, dass es etwas noch nicht gab, kann man nicht schließen, dass es unmöglich ist; und Argumente zur „Natur des Menschen“ übersehen, dass die Menschen nicht nur die Gesellschaft machen, sondern umgekehrt auch durch die Gesellschaft beeinflusst und geprägt werden. Ändern sich die Strukturen, ändert sich auch das Verhalten der Menschen.

Why this workshop?

Recent years have been marked by multiple crises—of an economic, social, political and environmental nature. It is quite clear that the neoliberal model, based on fossil energy and consumerism, has reached its limits. Against this background it is more than reasonable to consider social and economic alternatives.

Fake Commons

The more the commons gets attraction, the more false riders will use the idea. Today I what to point to one of these examples, which did not yet name themselves a »commons«, but it only takes them a minute to realize, that what they doing can be successfully labled a »commons«. I am talking about the ColaLife project. Due to explicitely putting a copyright stamp and »All rights reserved« on their pages, I can’t display images of their idea to »safe children’s lives«. Check out yourself.

The basic idea is to use existing distribution channels of Cola to spread »social products« such as rehydration salts, vitamines, or other medicine. These »social products« are transported in a specially designed small lenghty containers called »AidPod«, which fit between the bottles in crates. Sounds nice.
