Peer-Produktion und gesellschaftliche Transformation

Das Journal Critical Studies in Peer Production (CSPP) (inzwischen umgewandelt in Journal of Peer Production) lud mich ein, ein Diskussionspapier für die Ausgabe über Freie Software einzureichen. In diesen Papier versuche ich analytische Diskurs-Figuren herauszuarbeiten, wie sie in zehn Jahren der Forschung über Freie Software und commons-basierter Peer-Produktion im Oekonux-Projekt entwickelt wurden. Wie schon bei der englischen Version erscheint der Text in einer Serie von wöchentlichen Blogposts. Die einzelnen Diskurs-Figuren sind untereinander quer verlinkt. Anfangs werden die meisten Links »nach vorne« nicht funktionieren, was aber immer besser wird, je mehr Diskursfiguren erscheinen — also bitte etwas Geduld. Nun geht’s los mit dem Abstract, der Einführung, den Danksagungen und der verwendeten Literatur.

Aus der Dreckige-Wäsche-Kiste

Manchmal scheitern Projekte kaum dass sie angefangen haben. Zum Beispiel das Oekonux-Spinoff-Projekt und Online-Journal Critical Studies in Peer Production (CSPP). Es sollte ein wissenschaftliches Open-Access-Journal werden. Das Peer-Review sollte transparent ablaufen, eine öffentliche Mailingliste sollte der Ort sein, an dem organisatorische Fragen geregelt werden. Mit anderen Worten: Die Prinzipien der Peer-Produktion sollten auch für das Journal selbst gelten. Klingt logisch.

Im Streit darüber, was »offen« tatsächlich heißt, ist das Projekt gescheitert.

Italian Version of Oekonux Patterns

That’s the power of distributed cooperation: My recent paper for the CSPP-Journal entitled Peer Production and Societal Transformation has been translated into Italian by a collective of the Socialforge project. That’s really cool 🙂

The paper is a reflection of more than ten years of Oekonux project by extracting ten patterns out of the past debates. Maybe I should also translate the paper into German?

Conclusion

Far from being a consistent theory of historical transition towards a free society these patterns give a fairly good impression of why they don’t fit into any of the traditional approaches. (mehr …)
