Think of the waste accrued by the fact that nearly everything that is produced today is developed maybe tenfold in the big development departments the world over (the actual number might be a bit lower, thanks to industrial espionage :-) ). Or the immense capacities used for financial transactions, everything that is called "business" today, the justice system enforcing the property regime, etc. Seeing this inefficiency, on starts to think that scrapping capitalism might be the only necessary step to land directly in post-scarcity :-) -- I'm looking forward to the next part! But post-scarcity is still valuable as attitude: "there is enough for everyones needs".
